** P R E S S * R E L E A S E ** FOOTAGE DANCE FILM FESTIVAL/2000 now in its fourth year is adding new programs to its weekend line-up. FOOTAGE/2000 celebrates once again the showcasing of new and "vintage" innovative short dance films from all over the world including: Queens for a Day by Pascal Magnin of Switzerland, A Sun Dance by the graphic artist Dikayl, Spectre of the Rose by Mikhail Baryshnikov and Margot Fonteyn performing at the Monte Carlo Opera House in 1979. Year 2000 will also feature award-winning films from the Dance Film Association of New York. |

Additional programs include the following: High School Outreach Screenings in San Rafael and San Francisco for local dance students enrolled in high school performing arts programs. The Roxie Cinema and The Film Institute of Northern California will host these afternoon screenings for the active Bay Area dance community. The screenings will include local filmmakers and editors speaking about their work in dance and film. These screenings take place:

The new FILMS THAT DANCE Workshop will be presented on September 23, 2000 at The Marin Ballet Center for Dance in San Rafael, CA. Selected dancers and filmmakers will be chosen to participate in a three-hour workshop that includes: viewing dance and dance film excerpts, observation of a professional editing session and viewing the informal directing of a dance phrase filmed on sight.
