On Sunday, May 31st, CPCollaborations, a dance presenting organization,
will showcase 12 artists from all over the Bay Area. This interdisciplinary performance is
a fundraiser to support the upcoming dance film project PARAMETA, directed and choreographed
by Cynthia Pepper.
The following films will be screened:
- ZYNC --This award-winning documentary short film features three young
dance prodigies from the Marin Ballet. Previously shown on KQED and KCET,
this will be the premier showing on big screen format. Directed and choreographed
by Cynthia Pepper, Music by David Balakrishnan and The Turtle Island String
Quartet.
- SandDance --This film was shot at Red Rock Beach with three steadicam
cameras, and features underwater choreography, special effects morphing by Bay Area
animator Tony Claar, and a commissioned original score by Duncan Draper. Directed and choreographed
by Cynthia Pepper.
The following dances will be performed:
- Parameta --15-year old dancers work through a mysterious world of architectural
experiments using original music by John Craig Cooper.
- ZZZZ
Z --A new work in seven sections based on the world
of sleep using fatigue, nightmares and dreams as inspiration.
- Soliliquey --Renowned Bay Area dancer Suzanne Gallo will perform on
a trapeze outside of The Marin Ballet using a myriad of styles and techniques to
perform her original aerial work.
- Egeria --Michelle Silva performs a world premiere solo on pointe with
percussion music by Noah Mosgofian, inspired by the Zauli traditional music from
the Ivory Coast.
